Sally Baker is a Registered Nurse with extensive experience in a wide variety of areas.

In 1987 she graduated from Lincoln Institute with a Diploma of Applied Science: Nursing.

After completing a graduate program Sally worked as a Registered Nurse at The Alfred Hospital Burns Unit, quickly being promoted to an Associate Nurse Unit Manager.

In 1991, Sally completed a Bachelor of Nursing at Latrobe University during which time she supervised the clinical practice of undergraduate students and continued to work in the burns unit.

From 1992-1999 Sally worked as a Registered Nurse at Austin Hospital caring for high dependency patients pre and post Liver Transplant, head and neck surgery, plastic surgery/trauma, breast surgery, upper GI surgery and hepatobiliary surgery. Sally held roles as an Associate Nurse Unit Manager and Nurse Unit Manager.

In 1999 Sally took up a position as a case manager for the innovative Hospital in the home program at Austin Health.

After a break in practice Sally knew she needed to return to nursing, with a personal goal of working with women living with lipoedema, spurred on by her own lived experience. This required completion of another Bachelor of Nursing during which Sally received a Provosts Commendation for academic excellence and addition to the Dean’s List in recognition of outstanding academic achievement. Sally will be an accredited Lymphoedema Practitioner with the Australasian Lymphology Association in mid 2024.

In addition to her qualifications and experience Sally has lived experience of both lipoedema and lymphoedema so is well suited to the new role of Lymphoedema and Lipoedema support Nurse.
